What to do if your business systems fail
Power off the affected servers/NAS — this preserves the state of the failed system for forensic analysis.
Document the incident: time, symptoms, recent changes, last known backup — this helps us choose the best recovery approach.
Keep the logs (controller logs, NAS event log, SMART data) and send them with the device to speed up diagnostics.
For ransomware: do NOT pay the ransom. Contact us — in many cases we can recover from snapshots or shadow copies.
Enterprise recovery vs. disaster recovery planning
Data recovery is not a substitute for a proper backup and disaster recovery plan. Our service is for cases where backups have failed, are incomplete or are unavailable — and the business needs data that would otherwise be lost. We recommend two parallel tracks: we recover the data you need now, while you review your backup strategy with your IT team.
To keep production running during the recovery, we can coordinate with your IT provider to set up a parallel replacement system. You receive your data on a verified drive, ready to import into the replacement infrastructure. The original failed system is returned to you or securely disposed of — never reused.
For business customers we sign NDAs, follow GDPR-compliant processes aligned with ISO 27001, and can provide chain-of-custody documentation for every recovery.
Isolate and preserve the failed system
When enterprise storage fails, resist the temptation to ‘just reboot’ or ‘just rebuild’ — these shortcuts often turn a one-day recovery into a two-week reconstruction. Isolate the failed system from the network, stop all write activity and document its state before taking any diagnostic steps.
For ransomware incidents in particular: do not wipe the affected systems. Modern ransomware often leaves recoverable data in shadow copies, unmounted snapshots or vendor-specific backup volumes that attackers miss. Keeping the system intact gives us the best chance of recovering your data without paying the ransom.
